Did you know that they are one of the most intelligent animals? Additionally, they form strong bonds within their packs and can travel up to 80 kilometers per day in the wild.
However, historically and in all corners of the world, they have been exploited for their sheer size for tourism and various forced labor, including going to war! 😔
Also, they are captured in their natural habitat to be put in zoos and circuses where they are locked up, deprived of expressing their natural behaviors, and subjected to cruel training methods.
But even when they are allowed to live in nature, we have also found ways to violate their right to life 💔
Some villages that have settled in their path throw fireballs at them to force them to leave what was their home.
For African elephants, the poaching of these individuals and the clandestine trade of ivory from their tusks remains a huge problem 😡
For Asian elephants, habitat loss and illegal wildlife trafficking is the biggest problem they face.
